Subordinators’ Tool

Subordinators’ Tool helps students combine two short ideas into one complex sentence using a subordinating conjunction. Students choose because, although, or since, connect the sentences, and then check that the new sentence is complete and punctuated correctly. The worksheet strengthens complex sentences, dependent clauses, independent clauses, subordinating conjunctions, cause and contrast relationships, punctuation, and sentence fluency. It is especially appropriate for students in grades 4-6 who need practice showing how one idea explains, contrasts with, or gives background for another.
