Lantern of Warning

Students analyze a passage where the author uses foreshadowing to hint that unusual or troubling events may occur later. They identify specific clues in the text, explain how those clues build suspense, and interpret symbols such as the storm lantern. Students then make predictions supported by textual evidence. This activity builds students’ understanding of foreshadowing as a literary device and supports development of inferential reading skills.
