Ad Makeover
In this worksheet, students analyze an advertisement to identify its target audience and the persuasive strategy being used. After examining the message, tone, and techniques in the original ad, students rewrite the ad so that it appeals to a different audience or uses a different persuasive method. They are then asked to compare both versions and explain how their changes affected the ad’s message, style, and overall impact. This activity builds strong media-literacy skills by encouraging students to recognize how audience and technique influence an advertisement’s tone. Students also gain experience in adapting persuasive writing for new purposes.
