Sorting Sources

In this worksheet, students review a list of items and classify each as a primary source or a secondary source. They use the definitions provided in the introduction to determine whether each item represents firsthand evidence or an interpretation of past events. By writing P or S beside each example, students practice distinguishing between these two major categories of research materials. This activity helps build historical thinking, source analysis, and critical evaluation of informational reliability.
