Figurative Language Devices

Students read a poem and identify similes, metaphors, personification, and imagery within the text. They must highlight or underline each example, label it correctly, and explain its meaning. This exercise strengthens students’ ability to recognize descriptive language and understand how figurative devices contribute to the poem’s tone and overall mood. By analyzing examples and explaining their effects, students build deeper appreciation of poetic language and expressive writing.
