Hiroshima Reflections

Students read a historical passage about the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and reflect on whether the event was justified, necessary, or fair. They must use at least one piece of textual evidence to support their written response. The worksheet encourages students to think critically about complex historical events and moral dilemmas. It strengthens argument writing by requiring students to form a position and defend it with evidence. Learners also analyze the author’s description and the values expressed in the text. This helps students explore differing viewpoints and the controversies surrounding wartime decisions. The activity deepens historical empathy and critical reasoning.
