Persuasive Appeals

In this persuasive reading activity, students analyze a speech advocating for banning plastic bags and identify examples of logos, ethos, and pathos. The passage combines scientific reasoning, ethical responsibility, and emotional appeal to persuade readers toward environmental action. Students must classify each excerpt under the correct rhetorical appeal and justify their reasoning. This task develops argumentative analysis, rhetorical literacy, and awareness of persuasive techniques used in environmental advocacy. It encourages critical evaluation of how evidence and emotion can combine to influence public opinion.
