Figurative Thrills

In this worksheet, students explore figurative language through a thrilling roller coaster passage. They must identify examples of similes (comparisons using “like” or “as”) and metaphors (comparisons without those words). Students highlight or underline each instance of figurative language and classify it as either a simile or a metaphor in the provided chart. This activity enhances students’ ability to recognize descriptive comparisons that create imagery and emotion in writing. It also strengthens their analytical reading and understanding of how authors use figurative devices for vivid expression.
