Rhetoric at Work

This worksheet asks students to read and analyze an excerpt from a political debate speech focused on income inequality. Learners identify and evaluate rhetorical appeals-ethos, pathos, and logos-used to strengthen the speaker’s argument. Through close reading, students annotate where each rhetorical strategy appears and explain how it contributes to the speaker’s credibility, emotional impact, and logical reasoning. The questions guide students to think critically about persuasive techniques and argument effectiveness, key skills in rhetoric and communication analysis.
