Character Thoughts

Students read short passages and decide which character’s inner thoughts are being shared. By identifying the source of each internal reflection, learners practice distinguishing between narrative perspective and character focus. An extension task encourages creative writing by having students craft their own short passage with hidden character thoughts for a partner to interpret. This exercise strengthens understanding of internal dialogue and third-person limited narration.
