Meaning Shift Lab
Students rewrite each sentence three times-once with “little,” once with “a little,” and once with “the little”-to see how tone and meaning shift. They then label each version as negative, neutral, or specific and reflect on which sounds most optimistic. This activity builds deep awareness of nuance in language. It strengthens writing, critical thinking, and grammar precision while promoting metacognitive reflection.
