Reasoning Through Evidence

In this worksheet, students read three short passages and draw a conclusion based on character behavior, emotional cues, and situational clues. They must not only state their conclusion but also clearly explain how they reached it using evidence from the text. Each passage presents a realistic scenario that encourages students to analyze subtle details such as body language, tone, and actions. Students practice supporting their reasoning with direct references to the passage, reinforcing the connection between inference and textual evidence. This activity strengthens critical thinking, close reading, and written explanation skills while guiding students to articulate how evidence leads to a logical conclusion.
