Opposite Connectors
Students receive pairs of short ideas and must combine each pair into one smooth sentence using despite or in spite of. This requires them to correctly show contrast between an obstacle (rain, difficulty, tiredness, strong wind) and an unexpected result. By rewriting each pair as a complex sentence, learners strengthen their understanding of concessive connectors and improve sentence fluency and cohesion.
