Text Type Detective

Students become “text detectives” as they analyze short passages to determine which organizational structure each one uses. By reading examples that reflect cause/effect, compare/contrast, chronological, problem/solution, and descriptive formats, learners must identify structural clues such as sequencing transitions, comparison phrases, or causal relationships. The worksheet also includes a reflection challenge encouraging students to rewrite one passage in a different structure, promoting adaptability and deeper comprehension of informational organization.
