Author Intent Decoder

Students are given eight short passages and must determine whether the author’s purpose is to inform or persuade. Each passage contains linguistic clues such as factual descriptions, statistics, emotional appeals, or persuasive language. Learners analyze the tone and wording to determine the writer’s intention. The worksheet enhances students’ understanding of how authors shape messages to either present factual information or influence beliefs. This task builds foundational literacy skills necessary for interpreting nonfiction, media, and argumentative texts.
