Eruption Sequence Ordering

This worksheet teaches students the chronological stages of a volcanic eruption by asking them to sequence eight out-of-order events. Learners read each description-such as magma rising, pressure building, gases escaping, shaking, eruption, and lava flow-and number them from 1 to 8 based on the correct scientific order. This strengthens understanding of volcanic processes and helps students recognize cause-and-effect relationships within geological events. The activity supports comprehension of how eruptions develop and why various warning signs occur beforehand. Students also complete a reflection question that encourages them to think about the importance of eruption sequencing for scientific prediction and public safety. This helps link academic content to real-world hazard preparedness.
