Rock Cycle Sequencing

This worksheet asks students to sequence the major events of the rock cycle using a scrambled set of eight rock-stage descriptions. Learners read each clue, analyze how the rock is changing, and place the steps in the correct logical order from the beginning of magma formation to the looping end of the cycle. The activity strengthens understanding of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic transitions by presenting the cycle from the rock’s point of view. Students must use deductive reasoning, scientific vocabulary, and knowledge of geological processes to determine the correct sequence. This improves comprehension of how pressure, heat, cooling, weathering, erosion, and cementation contribute to rock transformation. The worksheet reinforces chronological thinking and Earth science literacy.
