Colonial Newswriting

Students take on the role of a newspaper reporter in 1773 and write a headline and 5-7 sentence news article about the Boston Tea Party. They choose to write from either a British or Colonial point of view, helping them explore bias, tone, and differing interpretations of the event. This activity promotes historical empathy, creative thinking, and clear writing. Students learn to express a perspective while demonstrating factual understanding of the Tea Party’s events.
