Epic Characters Answer Key

Students match ten named figures from The Aeneid to lettered descriptions that summarize their roles, traits, or fates. To succeed, learners must closely read each blurb, recall or infer key plot details, and discriminate among similar mythological identities. The activity strengthens character recognition (Aeneas, Dido, Turnus, Jupiter, Venus, etc.) and reinforces how each figure propels the epic’s conflicts and themes. Because the clues include destiny, rivalries, and divine intervention, students practice connecting textual evidence to character function. The puzzle-style format also encourages test-taking skills such as process of elimination and verifying choices against the text. By the end, students have a clearer mental map of who’s who and why each character matters.
