Roman-Greek Links Answer Key
Students complete a chart that pairs Roman names, figures, and episodes in The Aeneid with their earlier Greek counterparts and mythic connections. Items include Juno/Hera, Venus/Aphrodite, Jupiter/Zeus, Neptune/Poseidon, Mercury/Hermes, the Trojan Horse, the underworld journey, the Golden Bough, Turnus vs. Aeneas, and Dido and Aeneas. Learners identify each role in the poem and then supply the matching Greek connection. This reinforces classical allusions and cross-cultural continuity between Homeric and Virgilian epics. The activity builds background knowledge that improves comprehension of later literature. It also supports comparative mythology study.
