Makeover Mission

In this worksheet, students read a short story and then rewrite it by replacing selected plain verbs with verbs that include prefixes such as re-, un-, or over-. After rewriting the story, they answer comprehension questions that prompt deeper reflection on character actions, cause and effect, and how prefixes alter meaning. This activity encourages students to think critically about language and how word structure affects tone and clarity. By rewriting the narrative, students practice revision skills and experiment with vocabulary choices that enhance storytelling. The comprehension portion reinforces close reading and the ability to connect vocabulary with narrative detail.
