Tone Prediction

This worksheet asks students to read opening sentences and predict the tone the full story will likely take. Students choose from tones such as mysterious, excited, calm, worried, or silly. Using early textual cues, they practice drawing inferences about mood and narrative direction. This activity strengthens anticipatory reading skills and helps students understand how authors establish tone from the very first sentence. Writing the predicted tone reinforces decision-making and comprehension of narrative signals.
