Pronouns of Emphasis

Students read each sentence and determine whether the underlined pronoun is being used as an intensive pronoun or not. They write “INT” for intensive or “NOT INT” for other pronoun types, including reflexive uses. This activity builds understanding of subtle distinctions in pronoun roles. Students must examine whether the sentence would still make sense without the pronoun. This strengthens analytical reading and grammar reasoning. It also reinforces proper use of emphasis in writing.
