Setting Sketchbook
In this worksheet, students choose one of three settings-a quiet meadow, a snowy mountaintop, or a sunny riverside-and sketch it inside the large drawing box. After illustrating the setting, students write 3 to 4 sentences using vivid sensory details, explaining what someone might see, hear, smell, and feel in that environment. This requires learners to transform visual thinking into descriptive writing. The worksheet encourages detailed imagery and helps students understand how sensory description strengthens narrative settings. Students also practice clarity and specificity to help a reader visualize a place they have never visited.
