Stronger Scene Verbs

Students begin by reading a weakly written description and identifying the weak verbs. They then brainstorm stronger verbs that could make the scene more dynamic. After listing possibilities, learners rewrite the entire description using vivid verbs that show action, mood, and movement. This activity teaches students how verb choice affects the energy and clarity of a setting. It encourages them to revise weak writing and make intentional choices that improve imagery. The worksheet also helps students understand how strong verbs contribute to atmosphere and help bring places to life.
