Place Contrast
Students choose two real or imaginary places and describe how they are similar and different using sensory and descriptive details. They first name the two locations, then identify a similarity, and then describe differences in appearance and in sensory experience. Finally, students write a short comparative paragraph summarizing how the two places are alike and different. This worksheet develops both descriptive-writing skills and compare-and-contrast thinking. It encourages students to observe details closely and express comparisons clearly. The activity also strengthens paragraph construction and organization.
