Through Athenian Eyes

In this creative writing task, students adopt the perspective of either Meletus, Socrates’ accuser, or an Athenian juror to reimagine the trial from a new point of view. The worksheet prompts reflection on motives, reasoning, and emotional responses to the verdict and Socrates’ acceptance of death. Learners must demonstrate empathy and critical thinking as they articulate historical viewpoints through imaginative narrative writing. Reflection questions at the end extend the activity, helping students analyze how perspective influences interpretation.
