Identifying Voices

This matching activity asks students to identify which 1984 character spoke each of several key quotes. Learners connect famous lines to figures such as Winston, O’Brien, or Big Brother, reinforcing recognition of tone, perspective, and ideology. The task strengthens comprehension of dialogue and quotation significance while promoting recall of thematic elements such as surveillance, loyalty, and truth manipulation. Students practice textual analysis and evidence-based matching to demonstrate understanding of Orwell’s characters and messages.
