Balloon-to-Gift Pathway

This one is a really nice step forward because it adds more layers to the path while still keeping the visual goal clear. Students are guiding the balloon down to the gift, but along the way they have to manage multiple turns and stay within fairly tight boundaries. What stands out here is that students need to maintain control through change-they can’t just rely on one type of movement. I’d use this with Pre-K through Kindergarten students who are ready to stretch their control a bit further.

Targeted Skills

  • Multi-Turn Navigation – Managing several directional changes in one path.
  • Pencil Stability – Keeping control within narrower lines.
  • Motor Planning – Anticipating what’s coming next.
  • Sustained Focus – Staying engaged across a longer route.

Instructional Support

  • Builds on Earlier Mazes – A clear step up in complexity.
  • Great for Observing Pacing – You’ll see who rushes vs. who adjusts.
  • Encourages Intentional Movement – Students have to slow down to succeed.
  • Supports Fine Motor Growth – Strengthens precision under demand.

This is one of those worksheets where you’ll start to see students make small but important adjustments. They may begin to pause before turns or slow their hand slightly-and those are exactly the habits we’re trying to build. It’s that growing awareness of movement that really supports writing development.
