Who Wrote That?

This worksheet teaches students to separate a user’s ideas from AI-generated ideas. Students examine a prompt and a sample AI output, identify which parts derive from the user’s prompt or prior knowledge, and which parts were generated by the AI. They then explain whether the passage requires citation and why. A reflection question encourages deeper understanding of how AI transitions from writing assistance to functioning as a true source.

Curriculum Matched Skills

Critical Reading – Differentiating user content from AI additions

Academic Honesty – When AI-generated ideas require citation

Writing Skills – Explaining reasoning in structured responses
